So I'm a little new to Particle Systems, and I had a quick question about destroying them. Right now I am working on a fireball projectile that emits a stream of particles behind it, and a burst of particles when it is destroyed. To do this it uses an emitter. Right now when the projectile hits a target, it releases the burst of particles, and it destroys the emitter before destroying itself. I'd also like to destroy the Particle System during this event, to prevent memory leaks or other problems later on. The problem I'm having though, is that if I destroy the particle system within the destroy event, it immediately removes all the particles as well. Since this code gets run almost instantly after the projectile creates the burst effect, it means the burst effect basically never gets seen because there isn't even a full step between the burst and the system destroy.
So I'm trying to find a way to destroy the particle system, but wait until after the existing particles have died off. The only thing I can think of that would solve this, would be to create an alarm that gets triggered, instead of immediately destroying the projectile, and have that run until a point where the particles would definitely be gone. Then, I could destroy the particle system and the projectile itself within the alarm.

This feels like a sloppy solution though, so I was hoping someone would have a better idea, or some insight I'm missing. Thanks.
